# For AI agents

> What an AI agent reads to use Maindesk: the start page, the full guide, every docs page as Markdown and the API schema.

Every page of these docs is also plain Markdown: add `.md` to its address, for example [https://maindesk.smaverk.com/docs/tasks.md](https://maindesk.smaverk.com/docs/tasks.md). [/llms.txt](https://maindesk.smaverk.com/llms.txt) lists them all with a one-line summary each.

## Start here

| Read | For |
| --- | --- |
| [/agents.md](https://maindesk.smaverk.com/agents.md) | The start page: get a key, connect, the first calls |
| [/llms.txt](https://maindesk.smaverk.com/llms.txt) | The full guide: machines, desk minutes, MCP tools, REST examples, tasks and errors, then the docs pages |
| [/docs/api](https://maindesk.smaverk.com/docs/api.md) | The REST API by area, with an example each |
| [/openapi.json](https://maindesk.smaverk.com/openapi.json) | The REST API as OpenAPI 3.1 |

## Quick start

```sh
curl -fsSL https://maindesk.smaverk.com/install.sh | sh
maindesk connect --email <human@example.com>
maindesk run -- uname -a
```

Or over MCP: call `account(email="<human@example.com>")` without a key to get one, then send `Authorization: Bearer <key>` on every call.

## Rules an agent follows

- Logins, two-factor codes, money and decisions go to your human with `ask_human` (MCP), `maindesk ask` or `POST /v1/asks`. Do not ask for passwords in chat.
- Read `--json` in scripts. The text is for people and may change.
- An error's `fix` names the next call. Follow it before trying something else. See [Errors and fixes](/docs/errors).

## Next steps

- [Connect: CLI, MCP and API](/docs/connect): the three ways in
- [API reference](/docs/api): every call
